Welcome to EBMIA

The  Ethiopian Beverages Manufacturing Industries Association was legally established on April 03, 2018, with founding members from the sector.

EBMIA has got its license from FDRE Ministry of Trade & Industry as per Proclamation 341/2003 part 5(23) that allows the foundation of Sectorial Associations. Currently, the Association members are increased to 79.

The bottled water industry is a strong supporter of our environment and our natural resources. Bottled water companies manage resources responsibly by investing in technology and practices that improve water quality and conservation.

“I prefer this size as the half-litre one ends too fast, and the two-litre one is not comfortable to carry,” says Binyam.

The tidy little kiosk of Gizaw Kitabo, where Binyam is a customer, has dozens of different bottled waters, such as Aqua Safe, Aqua Addis, Arki, Classy and Fiker. They all come in various sizes, including the 20lt ones that Abyssinia and Classy bottle.

Due to the shortage and price hike of raw materials, bottlers are struggling to stay in the market. 20 bottlers have so far stopped their production while the rest operational producers are working under their capacity.
